As San Diego's music scene continues to grow, it is important that we take cues from more established music cities such us Portland, Seattle or Austin. Seattle recently launched their decade-long Seattle City of Music plan after discovering the staggering effect live music has on their local economy. In Austin, Texas, where live music is also a billion dollar business, there has been a condo invasion in the downtown venue district. The documentary Echotone takes an inside peek at Austin's growing pains through the eyes of a few up and coming bands and record labels.
