Riviera Supper Club opens this weekend

The people who brought you every place you like in San Diego (Casbah, Whistle Stop, Turf Club, Starlight) are opening their new cook-your-own-steak joint in La Mesa this Friday, The Riviera Supper Club and Turquoise Room.  Tim Mays recently passed the Turf Club off to new management and the idea of his new project seems to be a bigger/better/more take on the same idea.  Not only has the menu (and grill to cook the menu) expanded with sides like macaroni and cheese and baked beans as well as more steaks, the La Mesa location boasts a separate bar area, booths for 20+ people, and more than enough parking.  Not quite as bike-able as the Golden Hill classic, but all chatter coming from those who attended the soft opening make it sound worth the drive.

I grew up in La Mesa just down the street from where Riviera is opening. It's not as bike-able for those living near Turf Club, but it's not impossible either. Riding down University through City Heights and into La Mesa is a fun ride.

was there on friday night. it's badass. these guys can do no wrong. friendly staff, great drinks, incredible sides (the cream corn was my personal fave) and the whole thing felt like boogie nights, which is the tits in my book.
