The tradition of splitting a 7" has been the indie band equivalent of a friendship necklace for ages, and the guys of Swim Party and Writer are taking the symbol to a new level.  They've shared numerous stages since they met a year and a half ago but on Friday, the two bands will become one and share not only a stage, but a setlist.  To celebrate the release of their split 7" record, the two bands have been hitting the practice room together to arrange all of their songs as a six-piece superband.

Swim Party drummer Petro has played a role in recording both bands' latest releases and the 7" project is the manifestation of his request to record a full song by Writer.  The two new songs were recorded at his home studio, then sent off to be pressed on white vinyl with some beautiful artwork by Love, Christine.  And since both bands have an equal part in the project, it didn't make since that one or the other would headline the release party.

The superband performs for their first (and possibly only) time for their split 7" release at Whistle Stop this Friday, February 27th at 9:00.  You can pick up your vinyl, which comes with a digital download of the songs, at the show or on Writer's website soon after.
