Bowerbirds & Megafaun

The Casbah | 8/5/2009

August 5th was marked on my calendar early in the spring.  After becoming one of my favorite bands in 2008, Bowerbirds cemented their position with another brilliant release in 2009 entitled Upper Air

On a hot summer night, Megafaun took the stage after Joel P West opened to a nearly sold out crowd at The Casbah.  The rambunctious North Carolinians took to the courtyard to finish their set, simaltaneously winning the hearts of everyone in attendance.

Even after months of mental build up, Bowerbirds definitely did not dissappoint.  Their warm folk tracks, with layers of harmonies and instrumentation wooed the normally talkative crowd into a lulled, hypnotic state.  Getting to hang out with Phil and Megafaun after the show was a huge highlight to my summer.
