Art in East Village and Barrio Logan
Far be it from me to make cheesy metaphors about holiday splendor but seriously, this time of year is magical. To celebrate, there are two exciting art shows over in East Village and Barrio Logan this weekend.
Stop off at Space4Art for Anti-Freeze, an exhibition and sale featuring work from the in-house artists where an eclectic range of work will be available at affordable prices. A gallery committee member at S4A let me know that 50% of sales go to each artist and the other half to keeping this amazing community driven institution running which includes public arts programming and day to day functions. There’ll be live music including a DJ set from Rafter, hor d’ouerves, champagne, and beer donated by Mission Brewery. And if that’s not enough, MIHO Gastrotruck will be on-site serving up grub. (7-10pm)
Down the street, Art Fist Collective will host In Guad We Trust, a group show in celebration of Our Lady of Guadelupe’s feast day at the Roots Factory. In Guad will feature reworked images of the Virgen de Guadelupe by a stacked line-up of artists including Tocayo, Exist 1981, Jona Téllez-Girón, Perry Vasquez and Mario Torero. There’ll be live mural painting and DJ sets by Saul Q and Latin Lovers. In Guad We Trust goes from 6-10pm.
Also is in the neighborhood on Saturday is a fine art exhibition titled COY at Bosh Studio. Check out this little preview video below shot by Tommy McAdams.
