Luce Loft was made for The Paddle Boat to perform in, and this week was crafted for Joel P West to send us all home awe struck. Four nights of amazing music, friends, and beer had passed, paired with four mornings of cold loft couches and 8 A.M. Mission Rosemarys. Half of me never wanted the week to end, and the other half never wanted to see Seth Comb's face again. (Just kidding Seth)
Jeremy, Jackson and Jane kicked off the fifth and final evening with an a cappella Thom Yorke cover, the loft's acoustics complimenting their harmonies perfectly. Their set built in energy, half way through adding their newest member, percussionist Dave Mead.
After a short break, the last set of the week was upon us and I settled into my customary spot on the stairs. Admittedly, Joel had been taking notes all week and had some what of an advantage going last. Be that as it may, it doesn't hurt to be accompanied by a full string section, a.k.a. his newly named band The Tree Ring.
All week the audiences were respectful and the room was quiet, but there was something noticeably different in the air during Joel's set.
Thanks to everyone who made it out to share this very special week with us, and for those who didn't, you can thank Brad Kester and Alex Oat for capturing this particular night so beautifully.
