Over the past 6 years of post-college art making, Wes Bruce has compiled stacks of drawings, poems on old book pages, paintings, etc. As he prepares to leave for a residency program on Maui, Wes is giving away a ton of free art throughout the month of March. I'll let him explain his reasoning and process in which you obtain some of this art, over at his new Tumblr page - Art Give Away In March. Click on through and grab yourself a free drawing or a great gift for someone.
*** All of the art is gone! Thanks for participating.

On Saturday, February 16th over 1,300 people filed through a historic, bi-level warehouse filled with dozens of huge murals and art installations. Collaborating with the fine folks at Yeller Studio and Mindgruve, Sezio is thrilled to have taken part in this ground-breaking event. The artist roster and installation magnitude was really unmatched. If you missed the opening event, you'll have one final chance to tour the building (627 8th Ave.) - Sunday, February 24th between 10am - 3pm. The open house will be free, and all ages.
Below is a selection of photos from the event, snapped by Jessica Rae. See the whole album on Sezio's Facebook page.

Sezio and Yeller Studio are teaming up to host one of our most exciting events to date. Thanks to the creative folks at Mindgruve, we have been granted access to an old Parachute Factory on 8th Avenue for the first two weeks of February. Immediately we called every artist we could think of to help us tranform the inner walls of the bi-level warehouse into a maze of murals and installations.
On Saturday, February 16th for one-night-only Parachute Factory will be open to the public. MIHO and Karl Strauss will be on hand to provide eats and drinks. There will be a $5 cover at the door to help cover material and promotion costs, and the event will be open to all ages from 6-11pm. WeMakeParachutes.com

Two of our favorite artist-run spaces in town are closing their doors this month, Double Break gallery and shop in Bankers Hill and ICE Gallery in North Park. We're sad to see them both go, but also praise their effort and their extremely important contribution to San Diego's creative scene.
Double Break is having a huge sale on all remaining merchandise until December 15th, so swing by and snag a holiday gift for someone special! ICE Gallery will be closing things down with a solo installation this Friday by Tom Driscoll. Cruise out and support before these great spots are no longer...
