Three years in the making, Blackout Party is finally releasing their debut album. The rowdy americana rock band has seen a rotating cast of players compliment Brian Holwerda and Tim Lowman on this journey, including Damon DeLaPaz, Andrew Heine, Jake Najor, Daniel Crawford, Matt Gourney and Jesse Bowen. The album, entitled Bottom of the Sea, includes early Blackout Party classics Celebrity Baby, She Makes My Blood Boil and All My Friends.
Blackout Party - 'All My Friends'
You can stream and download the entire album for FREE here. Grab your copy and be sure to make it out to Casbah Friday night for the 'record release bash'.

From marketing campaigns to runways, Alice in Wonderland has been everywhere lately. Much to the delight turned horror of many, I imagine it will continue to hold the hype well beyond the Spring when Tim Burton's remake of the classic finally hits the big screen. Although released over a year ago, splice-master Pogo created this crafty song and music video from the original cartoon.

Mason Jennings is coming to the Belly Up for two nights next week and we've got a pair of tickets to pass along. A few months ago we spoke on the phone with Mason and he was looking at a large bird outside of his window. The first person to send a picture of said bird to info@sezio.org will get on the list +1 for Mason's show next Tuesday, 9/15. Check out our interview with Mason and do some Google Image work for a chance to win.

Although the line up is pretty much the same as any Citybeat-sponsored event, we have to give credit to the San Diego Music Awards this year for some of their nominations. Here are our pics to win it all...
Best Rock Album is really a toss up between Irradio and The Donkeys (Although The Donkeys should definitely be in the Americana category).
Best Alternative Album should be Crocodiles. I was late getting into this album, but was jamming I Wanna Kill all Labor Day weekend.
Obviously we're biased, but Best Americana Album has to be Dust Jacket. Joel has been a standout in San Diego for far too long with little noteriety.
Shout out for Best Local Recording to Shark Attack and their great collaboration with Demasiado front man Jon Piotrowski (on the title track).
I'm giving the nod for Artist of the Year to Delta Spirit. From Take Away Shows to major festivals, these guys have made the rounds this year.
As for the popular vote, it will be interesting to see how things shake down... I'm predicting a bar room brawl between John Meeks and Bill Cardinal for Best Country, and multiple trophies for those pesky Milgaten brothers who seem to have their hands into everything these days.
There's still a handful of tickets left, so pick up yours here.

Tuesday edition - Welcome back from the gloriously long and summery holiday! I refuse to believe in this last weekend of summer crap especially living in San Diego, but I do feel for the kiddies who are making their stomach wrenching return to another year of school. I do not, however, feel for my teacher friends who get the whole summer off and are crying about how hard it is to wake up now that they are finally forced to work. Boohoo, welcome back to reality bitches!
Just kiddin, here is a radical new video from Health for "Die Slow"!
