The Tree Ring : "Haida", Record Release

Yesterday The Tree Ring dropped the first single from their forthcoming record, Generous Shadows. Similar to "28th & N.E. Davis" from Joel P West's last record, "Haida" is an incredible, building track that sets the tone for the four-piece's debut. Listen to "Haida" below, and secure your tickets to The Tree Ring's record release show here. (02.12 at San Diego Women's Club)

MVM : Das Racist

Our recent obsession with Das Racist only heightened when we found their catalog of nonsensical music videos, including one that has its own video game.  Enjoy a selection below, and go see these guys tonight at Porter's Pub at UCSD.

Peter Wolf Crier, Futurebirds @ Habitat

After their show at The Loft, Peter Wolf Crier swung by Habitat House for a late night, stripped down performance. The Minneapolis-based duo ran through a handful of songs from their debut record in the old craftsman's attic.

Futurebirds, hailing from Athens Georgia, also spent some time in Golden Hill before heading east on their US tour. The vintage folk quintet graced the living room with one of my favorite tracks from 2010.

Darwin Deez, Das Racist @ UCSD

Das Racist - "Rainbow in the Dark"

UCSD is putting us in quite the predicament next Monday night.  We've had Darwin Deez' show at The Loft on our calendars since we posted his off the wall music videos last year, but we've also been bumping Das Racist in the office non-stop lately. The Brooklyn-based trio is set to play Porter's Pub the same night Deez will be making his San Diego debut at The Loft. Maybe they'll just combine the shows and host a huge dance party at RIMAC... probably not. Which show are you going to choose?

*Update: Darwin Deez cancelled, go to Das Racist.

The Tree Ring : Wore It Deep

By now most of you have seen the above video, released by The Tree Ring and director Destin Cretton last week. We were lucky enough to be on hand for the shoot, to capture the spontaneous beauty created by an incredibly talented group of friends. View a selection of photos and captions below, and view the full album here.
