Last Thursday, San Diego artist, Neko, packed up his paintings and headed north for Upper Playground’s opening of “The Spencer Little and Neko Fart Show.” Teaming up with one of his childhood friends, Spencer Little, the two bombed and skated their way up the coast to Sacramento. Before The Donkeys were selling out along the west coast with The Hold Steady, playing the Fillmore, or listening to Native American radio along the open roads of New Mexico, we caught up with them at the studio to sneak a peek of their new record. In usual Donkeys' style, the night consisted of good cheer, Bud heavies, and cosmic jams, with a photo shoot in the men's john somewhere in between. Two weeks ago Ford Motor Company sent our band, Dave Brown, and Zack Nielsen to Tennessee to experience the madness of Bonnaroo and play some music in their Ford Fiesta Garage. We knew that festivals are generally known for crowds, drugs, and accommodations that resemble those of a developing country, but we did not have any idea how far the words loud, hot, crowded, and a lot of other uncomfortable adjectives could be taken. There were some long hours in the heat but all in all, the nice people responsible for the Ford Fiesta Garage took really good care of us and we had an amazing weekend together. Read More...

After having a major back surgery in April, the life of Jona Tellez-Giron changed dramatically. Not too long ago Jona was out and about, playing drums for The Vision of a Dying World and The Paddle Boat, skateboarding and working several jobs. Now he spends most of time at his home in City Heights, waiting for an estimated 1 - 2 years for his back to heal properly before he can go back to working full-time. Read More...
