Two weeks ago Ford Motor Company sent our band, Dave Brown, and Zack Nielsen to Tennessee to experience the madness of Bonnaroo and play some music in their Ford Fiesta Garage. We knew that festivals are generally known for crowds, drugs, and accommodations that resemble those of a developing country, but we did not have any idea how far the words loud, hot, crowded, and a lot of other uncomfortable adjectives could be taken. After having a major back surgery in April, the life of Jona Tellez-Giron changed dramatically. Not too long ago Jona was out and about, playing drums for The Vision of a Dying World and The Paddle Boat, skateboarding and working several jobs. Now he spends most of time at his home in City Heights, waiting for an estimated 1 - 2 years for his back to heal properly before he can go back to working full-time. Read More...

We were hidden from the sight of the city as we crept through lavender lit tunnels that gleamed with the colorful evidence of those that had created in that secret place. We had gathered everything we would need for the adventure, all the paints, brushes, rollers, wheat paste, posters and whatnots. We had illumination and a strong sense of purpose as we braved the wet underground infrastructure beneath America’s finest city. Though nomadic in medium, the work of David Adey is consistent in concept in and the evident time and process behind it. A college professor at Point Loma Nazarene University, he works full-time as an artist between graduation and freshman orientation and this year his summer goal was to suspend a row of books between two walls with minimal support. Tests were conducted in PLNU’s Keller Gallery towards a final process, which was followed in a matter of days for the piece’s debut last week at La Jolla’s Athenaeum Library. Read More...
