Leah Goren is a designer and illustrator currently attending Parson's School of Design in New York, but summering in San Diego. For the past few months she been busy cranking out hip cat dresses, new pastel textiles, and creating a body of work titled Internet Girls for a solo show at Habitat House. In the artist's own words:
“Internet Girls are the result of the cycling of images and tastes through the Internet among girls. Internet Girls explores the current state of the Internet Girl. Right now, Internet Girls like vintage things, florals, patterns and textiles, pretty pastries/food, cats, the color pink, lace, and natural earth things (geodes, crystals, plants, succulents, feathers, bones, etc). If my show is any good, it will probably look like your dream bedroom. Internet Girls will be at 1008 21st St. San Diego, CA at like 7 pm.”

The gents over at Subtext Gallery have schemed up a hilariously awesome idea for a group show. Earlier this year, Don and Dylan scoured local thrift and vintage stores for classic seascape paintings. Those paintings were given to 30 artists with instructions to Krakenize them by adding some sort of hideous sea creature. The results of this experiment can be seen this Friday at Subtext Gallery (Kelly Vivanco's "Krakminton" is pictured below). Artists included in the show also include local standouts NC Winters (pictured above), Mike Maxwell, Exist 1981, and Tocayo.

Golden Hill artist, Eric Wixon, has been holed up in an old bank building downtown working on 10 new paintings for an upcoming exhibit hosted by Alexander Salazar. The new pieces are more abstract and quite a bit larger than Wixon's normal work. Local photog Tommy McAdams spent some time with Eric lately, compiling the below time lapse video. Cruise down to 640 Broadway between 6 and 9pm this Wednesday for the opening.

After their debut single was swiped from the internet last month, Trung and Brad of TV Girl wrote a well crafted letter to the music industry at large. It appears that they've also been busy writing new songs, announcing last night via Facebook that their new EP is ready and available for download. On first listen, it's pretty solid - maybe they won't need the help of Todd Rundgren after all.
Stream the four tracks below and download them for free on Facebook.
