This past Labor Day weekend Trevor Powers left Boise for his first string of shows outside of Idaho under his musical moniker Youth Lagoon. Before his impressive performance that night at Tin Can Alehouse, we snagged him and his guitar player Logan for a quick session at SDRL. All of two months later and Youth Lagoon already has an east coast tour with Gardens & Villa under their belt, plus a smash hit debut record touting a Best New Music credential from Pitchfork.
YL kicks off their first headline US tour in San Francisco on the 1st, and will be making their debut appearance at The Casbah this Thursday with Young Magic and Range Rover. Grab your tickets early before the show sells out!

Chairs Missing is back with a brand new single and music video. The freak-folk four piece has a couple shows coming up as well, celebrating the release of their new 7 inch this Friday at The Glashaus in Barrio Logan, and kicking off Four Day Weekend opening for Peter Wolf Crier on November 10th.

Halloween is almost upon us and we've got some picks for the weekend ahead. Kick things off on Friday with a costume party at The Casbah featuring local legends The Donkeys and Cuckoo Chaos, fresh off a bunch of NYC shows during CMJ. On Saturday night Space 4 Art has simultaneous openings featuring San Diego artist Brianna Rigg and an outdoor installation titled Hell House.
On Halloween night you've got two great shows to pick from; Deer Tick and Guards at The Casbah, or our first choice, Thee Oh Sees at Bar Pink. These guys put on an insanely energetic show, and it's only $5 bucks. Have fun and be safe out there...

Filter Magazine and Hard Rock Hotel San Diego are kicking off a monthly music series called SoundCheck. Tonight's inaugural show features freak-pop duo YACHT and two well known San Diego DJs. The show is free if you RSVP here. Doors at 9pm, music at 10pm.
