In June of 2008, we were scrambling to finish the programming for Sezio.org while trying to coordinate a huge art show at a rented loft space that was way out of our budget. Funny how things come full circle... This Thursday, three and a half years later, Sezio returns to Luce Loft with another huge art show to celebrate the launch of our 2011-12 membership program. We've got a whole lot in store for this evening, so stick with us as we break it down.

First off, we've got a new membership kit for our 2011-12 fiscal year, highlighted by these rad new cards designed by Wes Bruce and a letterpressed sketchbook courtesy of Sezio and Quality Letterpress. We've also added to our list of Partner businesses, so this year your Sezio Card can really save you some dough!
Present your card at the following businesses and receive 10% off your bill:
Starlite, Riviera Supper Club, Blind Lady Alehouse, Station Tavern, Bottlecraft, The Linkery, Artist & Craftsman Supply, MIHO Gastrotruck, Tiger! Tiger!, and El Take It Easy.
Sezio Partners, Starlite and MIHO Gastrotruck, will also be at Luce Loft this Thursday serving up some tasty beverages and hand-crafted grub. Memberships will be available Thursday for $40 dollars!

Filling the walls at Luce Loft will be 20 or so of our favorite local artists, all showing small to medium sized pieces that would make perfect holiday gifts. Here's an alphabetical list of the artists you'll see work from:
Angela Estes, Angella d'Avignon, Brent Sandor, Carly Ealey, Charles Bergquist, Clarke Forrest, Dustin Ortiz, Eric Wixon, Exist 1981, Honkeykong, Jenna Morrow, Jolby, Joshua Krause, Lee Lavy, Matt Mahoney, Matt Stallings, Mickey Ford, Mike Maxwell, Morgan Manduley, Neko, Taylor Johnson, Tocayo, Tommy McAdams, Wendy Teague, and Wes Bruce.
We sure hope you can make it out this Thursday, December 15th! The event is Free, All Ages, and lasts from 7-11pm. Luce Loft is located at 1037 J Street - San Diego, CA 92101.

Tijuana tour guides Turista Libre are hosting a holiday party worth crossing the border for this Saturday, the 17th. Headlining the night of music at TJ's Moustache Bar will be NYC standouts Beach Fossils, joined by San Diego's Tropical Popsicle and Tijuana's Ibi Ego. If you're worried about crossing the border at night, Turista Libre has a 9pm pickup organized. Check the details here, and be adventurous! This should be a good one...

Far be it from me to make cheesy metaphors about holiday splendor but seriously, this time of year is magical. To celebrate, there are two exciting art shows over in East Village and Barrio Logan this weekend.
Stop off at Space4Art for Anti-Freeze, an exhibition and sale featuring work from the in-house artists where an eclectic range of work will be available at affordable prices. A gallery committee member at S4A let me know that 50% of sales go to each artist and the other half to keeping this amazing community driven institution running which includes public arts programming and day to day functions. There’ll be live music including a DJ set from Rafter, hor d’ouerves, champagne, and beer donated by Mission Brewery. And if that’s not enough, MIHO Gastrotruck will be on-site serving up grub. (7-10pm)
Down the street, Art Fist Collective will host In Guad We Trust, a group show in celebration of Our Lady of Guadelupe’s feast day at the Roots Factory. In Guad will feature reworked images of the Virgen de Guadelupe by a stacked line-up of artists including Tocayo, Exist 1981, Jona Téllez-Girón, Perry Vasquez and Mario Torero. There’ll be live mural painting and DJ sets by Saul Q and Latin Lovers. In Guad We Trust goes from 6-10pm.
Also is in the neighborhood on Saturday is a fine art exhibition titled COY at Bosh Studio. Check out this little preview video below shot by Tommy McAdams.
Space4Art is located at 325 15th St., San Diego, 92101
The Roots Factory is located at 1878 Main St., San Diego 92113
Bosh Studio is also located at 1878 Main St. in Unit #D
