Film Premiere : Down The Road

Tonight is the Down The Road San Diego Premiere at La Paloma Theater in Encinitas.  The film is a documentary of a trip through Central America that exposes some beautiful and tragic things that are a part of everyday life there.  From this film spurred a project that reflects on the trip as it relates to our interaction with needs in our own communities and the way we pursue initiative and adventure in addressing them.  Here is a sneak peek of the film's opening sequence..

A live performance by musician Joel P. West will be starting the night off at 7pm (sharp) followed by the film at 8pm.  For more info on Down The Road, check out the film's website.

New Albums : Elvis Perkins, The Traditionist

Tuesday is generally when new music drops to iTunes, and today's new release has kept me waiting patiently for three years... I first saw Elvis Perkins in 2006, opening for My Morning Jacket at the Wiltern. I later caught him at The Casbah, where he debuted two tracks not included on his first album: Shampoo and Doomsday. All that to say, I've waited three years to buy this album, go get one yourself. (ps. Elvis Perkins in-store performance at M Theory, 03.15 - 4pm)

Also making it's iTunes debut is Season to Season, recorded by The Traditionist and released by our good friends at Better Looking Records. This album has a ton of great tracks, a couple which you can sample below.

"A Sleep Be Told"

"I Know My Ocean"

MVM : Bug Lung Baby

I just realized that two bands I am into right now are both products of the same person, Jonathan Visger.  I'm smart.  Visger puts out Bug Lung Baby on his own but plays with band members for Mason Proper.  (check out their song "Fog" on myspace, you'll want to play it on repeat).  Here is the video from Bug Lung Baby for "The Stupidist Things".  I think the natives are wearing my moccasins.
