The Printer's Devils at Bay Park Press

In Medieval times, a printer's devil was an apprentice in a printing establishment. Early printing was long associated with devilry; and printers were believed to be practitioners of the Black Arts. Over time, the apprentice came to be called The Printer's Devil.

Local printers Florence Ashford, Anthony Lukens, and Trish Martin will be presenting the fruits of their Bay Park Press apprenticeships tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. as The Printer's Devils makes its debut.

The show, featuring works of letterpress, linocuts, and intaglio will run from June 12 to July 18 at Bay Park Press (4138 Napier Street). The gallery is open Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check out Bay Park's site for more information.

Why you should go see The Antlers

The Antlers' lo-fi house recordings have taken over my life lately.  Their sound and lyrics are brutally honest.  The Brooklyn-based, one time solo project of Peter Silberman have recently signed to French Kiss Records and are currently tourning the US.  Come out to Bar Pink tomorrow night and check 'em out.

MVM : Chairlift

There is something really calming and sexy about light from the television on bare skin. I gotta say, Caroline Polachek's got it down in Chairlift's new video for Bruises. It all leads up to none other than a climactic game of spin the bottle.
