I A Not A Hipster : SD Premiere

The film we've all been waiting to see, Destin Daniel Cretton's I Am Not A Hipster, will make its San Diego premiere at the Museum of Photographic Arts on Friday, May 11th.  After debuting at Sundance, and getting rave reviews from the likes of Rolling Stone, I Am Not A Hipster will return to its home turf.  The feature length film is set in San Diego's art and music scene, highlighting quite a few local bands and musicians throughout the film and soundtrack.  Destin also enlisted Joel P West to compose the film's original score and write an album's worth of songs for the film's main character.  That side project has been dubbed CANINES, and you catch a rare live performance from them at the San Diego premiere.

On Friday, May 11th MOPA, San Diego Film Festival, and Sezio will host a double screening of I Am Not A Hipster, at 6pm and 9pm.  In between screenings there will be a cocktail reception and a live performance from CANINES.  Grab your tickets here, and don't wait, we are expecting the evening to sell out.  If you haven't seen the trailer, you can view that below.

Habitat House : Birthday Show

Habitat House is returning from winter hibernation this Monday to open their first art exhibit of the year. Birthday Show features two bay area artists, Andrew Heine (left) and Eric Taggart (right), on their actual birthday, April 30th. These two former San Diego residents are near and dear to our hearts, as they were both influencial players in Sezio's formation in the early 2000's. Their contrasting styles will be on display from 6-10pm Monday evening at 1008 21st Street. Cruise out to see their new work and partake in the evening's dialogue.

Re-Gallery : The Salton Sea Studies

Adventurers, Wes Bruce and Marcus Price, headed east to the Salton Sea for a few days, taking on the alter egos as they documented their surroundings.  Their findings are on displayed at the Re-Gallery in Solana Beach through May 30th, 2012. We highly recommend you check out this really unique exhibit!

Harriman, Fawcett, & Falcon Present: the Salton Sea Studies: a Visual Representation of an In Depth Exploration. The exhibition will examine the Salton Sea from its rise as a popular recreation destination in the mid-20th century to its decline into a harsh, ecologically devastated landscape. Historical figures Harriman, Fawcett and Falcon – an unlikely trio of disgraced captain of industry, archaeologist and explorer – document their individual experiences at the Salton Sea via installation, illustration, hand drawn maps, case notes of their findings, soil samples, and photography.

Tiger! Tiger! : April Fools Show

On Sunday, April 1st Sezio is hosting an experimental art show at Tiger! Tiger! in North Park. We've challenged a handful of San Diego's most recognizable artists to create one piece of art outside of their comfort zone, far removed from their trademark style.  Each piece will be on display this Sunday at Tiger! Tiger!, but there will be no names declaring who made each work of art.

Your job is to show up, and try to match each of these artists to the piece they created: Neko, David Adey, Mike Maxwell, Eric Wixon, Wes Bruce, Kelli Murray, Matt Stallings and Joshua Krause. *Guests who can match the most will win a variety of prizes, from tickets to Youth Lagoon and Bowerbirds to gift certificates to Blind Lady Ale House and Tiger! Tiger!

Sezio's April Fools Show is going down Sunday, April 1st from 7-10pm at Tiger! Tiger! (3025 El Cajon Blvd). *You must turn in your guesses by 9pm to be eligible to win.
