Writer : Family Dinner 7"

The Brothers Ralph of Writer have been settling in out in NYC, getting acquainted with the local venues and prepping for a big spring tour.  A couple days ago they linked up with Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, supporting them on April dates throughout the South and East Coast. They'll be bringing with them a brand new 7" vinyl highlighting their track "Family Dinner" along with some fresh artwork from Charles Bergquist. The record can be purchased through Pretty Awesome Records, with proceeds benefitting San Diego's Autism Tree Project.

Re-Gallery : The Salton Sea Studies

Adventurers, Wes Bruce and Marcus Price, headed east to the Salton Sea for a few days, taking on the alter egos as they documented their surroundings.  Their findings are on displayed at the Re-Gallery in Solana Beach through May 30th, 2012. We highly recommend you check out this really unique exhibit!

Harriman, Fawcett, & Falcon Present: the Salton Sea Studies: a Visual Representation of an In Depth Exploration. The exhibition will examine the Salton Sea from its rise as a popular recreation destination in the mid-20th century to its decline into a harsh, ecologically devastated landscape. Historical figures Harriman, Fawcett and Falcon – an unlikely trio of disgraced captain of industry, archaeologist and explorer – document their individual experiences at the Salton Sea via installation, illustration, hand drawn maps, case notes of their findings, soil samples, and photography.

Tiger! Tiger! : April Fools Show

On Sunday, April 1st Sezio is hosting an experimental art show at Tiger! Tiger! in North Park. We've challenged a handful of San Diego's most recognizable artists to create one piece of art outside of their comfort zone, far removed from their trademark style.  Each piece will be on display this Sunday at Tiger! Tiger!, but there will be no names declaring who made each work of art.

Your job is to show up, and try to match each of these artists to the piece they created: Neko, David Adey, Mike Maxwell, Eric Wixon, Wes Bruce, Kelli Murray, Matt Stallings and Joshua Krause. *Guests who can match the most will win a variety of prizes, from tickets to Youth Lagoon and Bowerbirds to gift certificates to Blind Lady Ale House and Tiger! Tiger!

Sezio's April Fools Show is going down Sunday, April 1st from 7-10pm at Tiger! Tiger! (3025 El Cajon Blvd). *You must turn in your guesses by 9pm to be eligible to win.

Art Fist Collective : My Little Art Show

After the City of San Diego approved a proposal to paint over the vintage 40x80 Caliente racetrack mural located on the western wall of the historic California Theater and replace it with a beer advertisement, Enrique Limon of Art Fist Collective immediately took action. With the help of other enthusiasts, Limon gathered the initial 250 signatures to rescind the permit and urge the city to reconsider. Now, the City's Historical Resources Board will conduct a historic report to determine whether or not the mural is historically significant or not.

To further the cause and keeping with the horse racing theme, 25 artists were given a My Little Pony to transform into sculptural and decorative works of art which will be on display and for sale at Art Fist Collective Presents: My Little Art Show Friday, March 23rd at Quality Social from 6-10pm.

All proceeds from art sales will aid the Save Our Heritage Organisation in their efforts to pay for an independent report on the mural.

As curator, Limon has organized the show and personally scoured yard sales, swap meets and online auctions in search of the perfect pony to use as a mold.

"Some of them are rare collectibles, others might have been a buck fifty at Kobey’s," said Limon.  "But thanks to their respective artist’s vision, they will all be one-of-a-kind pieces of art."
