Kinsee Morlan is moving to Colorado, leaving her beloved border town, her post at citybeat and a large group of admirers behind. Kinsee has had an immense impact on San Diego and Tijuana's creative communities and will definitely be missed. We are working on a featured interview with the journalist / curator, but for now check out the final post on her blog, Tijuana Tales.

I had the parentals in town for the weekend, and Sunday we made it over to the Air & Space museum for The Da Vinci Experience. Using his sketchbook and notes, the curators of this exhibit recreated 50+ of Da Vinci's ideas and inventions. Da Vinci's diversity was amazing, creating solutions for transportion, defense, irrigation, and so on. Most of his ideas were so ahead of their time, that they were denied by the royal court or whoever he was presenting to. Da Vinci's 'Air Screw' or chopper, pictured below, was the beginning thoughts behind a Helicopter.
Below is the re-created version at the exhibit.
After reading and experiencing all of his innovation, there is a hall of his paintings as well (not originals). By that time, I had forgotten that he was a renowned artist and musician, a true renaissance man. My mind was mush leaving the museum. It is impossible to fathom how productive, innovative and diverse Leonardo was. The Da Vinci Experience will be at the Air & Space Museum the remainder of this year, and I highly recommend checking it out.

I totally did not recognize the new song "Nothing To Worry About" as a Peter Bjorn & John song. I did, however, know the Japanese dudes in their new music video since they have been blowing up the net lately. I think I was first introduced via Holiday Matinee. Awesome.

LaundroMatinee.com is a mix between Daytrotter and Take Away Shows. Touring bands will stop into thier Indianapolis-based studio for a recording / video session, with past guests including a few of my favorites, Bon Iver, Dr. Dog and Langhorne Slim. In the video below, Laswell and Brandon Walters perform 'What a Day'.
