In March of 2009, Sezio hosted Live @ Luce Loft in San Diego's East Village. The five-night series paired ten emerging local acts in an intimate living room setting, and proved to be a landmark event in San Diego's current music scene. We're taking things up a notch in 2010, doubling the size of the living room, and showcasing some of our favorite California-based bands. Sezio is ecstatic to announce Four Day Weekend, headlined by The Dodos, Avi Buffalo, Dominant Legs, and The Tree Ring.
The four-night series will go down Thursday, November 4th through Sunday, November 7th at Sushi Art (also in SD's East Village).

To round out the week's lineup, we've chosen four emerging San Diego-based acts that we are quite fond of. Here's the schedule:
11.04 - The Tree Ring w/ The Vision of a Dying World
11.05 - Dominant Legs w/ Writer
11.06 - The Dodos w/ Cuckoo Chaos
11.07 - Avi Buffalo w/ Chairs Missing
Individual tickets for the shows can be purchased here, along with a VIP Pass which guarantees access to all four performances, priority seating, your first drink on the house and a limited-edition, letterpressed pass. Each show will have a 200 person capacity, so grab your tickets now! Doors will open at 8pm each night, with the opening act starting promptly at 9pm.
Sezio is proud to partner with Sushi Art, Karl Strauss, Hotel Indigo and Jedidiah Clothing to make this event possible.

Sezio is excited to announce a partnership with Fruit of the Soul, an annual arts, music and culinary event hosted at the Specialty Produce warehouse in Mid Town. Going on five years strong, FOTS combines the best food, art and music San Diego has to offer and annually raises over $20,000 for local charities. We're excited to be curating this year's art installment, which will be showcased in two semi trucks turned pop-up galleries for the October 16th event. Sezio will also be live silk screening tees and collaborating on a live art installation.
Tickets and details for the event can be found here. RSVP on Facebook here.

Sezio is extremely pleased to announce that The Linkery and the newly opened El Take It Easy are both joining our Partner Program. The Linkery has long been a staple of the park neighborhoods, founded by San Diego farm-to-table pioneer Jay Porter. Jay's newest social culinary experiment is El Take It Easy, a tijuana inspired gastro-cantina (pictured below). Straddling University Ave. on 30th Street, these two fine establishments expand Sezio's Partner Program into the heart of North Park.
Starting Monday, Sezio Members can enjoy 10% off their entire bill at The Linkery and 50% off their first round of drinks at El Take It Easy. Both discounts are valid 7 days a week when you present your membership card. If you haven't picked up your Sezio Membership yet, you can do so here for $40. The cards will be valid through 2011, and your contribution is fully tax deductible (and helps us continue to do what we do).

In the same way writing a word over and over (and over) potentially disintegrates its meaning, Jocelyn Duke’s upcoming show Lovesick explores the integral relationship between repetition and sensation in order to emulate the “immediate ups and downs of someone hopelessly lovesick.”
Rather than reinforced by repetition, Duke’s words blend into what feels like an infinite sequence, ushering the viewer into something of a disoriented lexical state—or as Duke might suggest, the raptures of love.
In Lovesick, Duke uses a vibrant color palette and creates repeating shapes and wordplay that make these large-scale works look like they're wiggling and jumping right off the canvas. Like holding a prism to sunlight, Duke's style makes rainbows all its own, illuminating her technicolor vision with bright lines and brilliant sensations.
Jocelyn Duke is premiering her vivid new series Lovesick in a solo exhibition opening this Friday, October 1st at the Ballpark Loft in the East Village from 7-10pm.
