If I were to translate my love for Summer in a music video and then my utter horror that Autumn starts next Thursday in the last minute and thirty seconds of that same video, it might look a lot like Crocodiles' video for "Hearts of Love." ...I said might. Regardless of the hipster slaying and gnar gore, it's a good song and it's nice to see these San Diego residents showcasing some of the local scenery. (Can you spot OB's public restrooms?)
Crocodiles sophomore release, Sleep Forever, drops tomorrow on Fat Possum. You can order a copy of the CD or Vinyl here, or pick up a copy at M Theory Records in San Diego.

These New Zealanders just dropped their new album Passive Me, Aggressive You and I'm downloading it as I type. If the album is anything like their new single "Young Blood" I will be exploding it at Starlite this Wednesday. Here's the music video for "Young Blood" by The Naked and Famous.

"Cute But Desperate" by Gary Allard
In this digital age, lo-fi livin’ is the life for me. Keep my beer cold and cheap, my books used, and my cameras disposable. Without the polish and sheen of Photoshop, film cameras leave the print in the hands of photographic destiny, where light leaks and graininess give an honest moment it’s due.
Half the fun of film is waiting to see what develops, so while I appreciate photography of all styles and forms, I have a very special nook in my heart for 35mm and medium format.
Enter Plastic Fantastic, a group photography show and benefit auction presented by American Photographic Artists San Diego (APASD) held at Subtext Gallery this Friday, September 3rd from 6-10pm. For one night only, photographers will show images created with plastic cameras. Think supersaturated prints in soft focus, think accidental vignetting, light flares, and double exposures.
Also, San Diego jazz band Pocket will play at 9pm and part of the proceeds from the evening will go to The AjA Project.
