I've been made fun of a lot lately for running this song into the ground. My excuse: The Faint is coming to Street Scene this year! Actual reason: I'm obsessed. The line up is pretty insane though, check it out here.

The fairgrounds are finally done with American Idols. This late summer lineup took me by complete surprise as I saw kicking off the first show, this Friday, is G. Love & Special Sauce. With his mellow, but harsh attitude, his live show should be very entertaining. Also, due for an appearance in August, with their infamous stage show, is the Flaming Lips. Local favorite Pinback will also be playing in late August and mellow sylist Pete Yorn shows up in September.
The most amazing part about these shows is that they are all free. Just be at the fairgrounds right when the last race finishes, which is usually around 7 PM, and stick around for the tunes.
Lineup is below.
Fri, July 24th - G. Love & Special Sauce
Fri, July 31st - The Wailers
Fri, Aug 7th - The Airborne Toxic Event
Fri, Aug 14th - Common Sense
Sat, Aug 15th - The Flaming Lips
Fri, Aug 21st - Pinback
Sat, Aug 22nd - Steel Pulse
Fri, Aug 28th - Super Diamod
Fri, Sept 4th - Pete Yorn
Sun, Sept 6th - Roots, Rock, Reggae Festival feat. Ziggy Marley

After seeing Cuckoo Chaos at the Casbah a few weeks ago, I told Jackson "I keep expecting to not be super into one of your projects..." Yet again, that was not the case. Cuckoo Chaos is built on the songwriting of Scott Wheeler accompanied by Jeremy Scott (The Paddle Boat) on drums and Single Screen Records duo Craig Barclift and Jackson Milgaten on Bass and Guitar. Their fast-paced indie folk combined with four part vocal harmonies had me hooked from the first song.
This afternoon around 1pm we'll be filming a live set by Cuckoo Chaos at Luce Loft. If you're downtown on your lunch break or looking to cure your unemployment boredem, cruise down and hang out for an hour.

I listen to Yppah when I paint sometimes or need to relax. I recently got their new album They Know What Ghost Know and I'm liking what they did with the music video for "Gumball Machine Weekend". I think I've had dreams about this lil guy.

After all the summer festivals pass, Grizzly Bear will be taking their live act to more intamate venues around the country. San Diegans can catch the New York-based four piece at The Belly Up in Solana Beach on Wednesday, October 21. A unique brand of indie rock, Grizzly Bear fuses sweet harmonies with biting lyrics to create an original sound. Grab your tickets here before they sell out.
